Things are heating up in all corners of the Louisville City universe, both figuratively and literally, so let’s get to it!

Soccer Holdings announces plans for training facility

Soccer Holdings, LLC, which owns Louisville City FC, NWSL Louisville TBD, and the Louisville City Academy revealed on Wednesday the initial mockups and renders for their new training facility on Edith Avenue near Butchertown. As many of you may know, the site is a former city dump, so a lot of work will need to be done before actual construction can happen. The projected cost of the improvements will be privately financed to the tune of about $15 million.

AML Construction has been selected as the contractor for the Champions Park site that will feature four turf fields for the youth academy and local community, three natural grass fields on which the professional clubs will train as well as a 30,000 square foot women’s and men’s training building.

Soccer Holdings press release, June 10, 2020

With the new youth setup getting off the ground and field space being generally scarce all around the county, this is going to be a boon for Louisville City in particular and other local clubs generally. Soccer Holdings has publicly stated that other local clubs will be allowed to rent the fields based on availability.

Louisville City #BlackLivesMatter scarves!

On Saturday last week, Louisville City tweeted an order form for a new, special and limited edition scarf in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. All proceeds from the presale, which unfortunately ended on Tuesday, are going to Black Lives Matter Louisville. If you missed your chance to buy a scarf but still want to give to the cause, check out the Black Lives Matter Louisville twitter account. Other good accounts to follow and causes to support are Louisville Showing Up for Racial Justice, ACLU – Kentucky, and the Louisville Urban League.

New options for 2020 season ticket holders

On Thursday morning, Louisville City emailed season ticket holders with a new package of options for handling their 2020 season ticket payments:

Option A: I Will Support My Club in 2020: No refund or account credit is expected for tickets and/or parkingBenefits of Honorary Owner Status:  Retain 2020 Season Ticket Member Status • Priority to redeem tickets for home matches with fans in 2020 • 25% discount for 2021 LouCity season tickets AND/OR 2021 NWSL season tickets • First right of refusal to your current or upgrade seats for 2021 LouCity season AND 2021 NWSL season • Personalized identification on your seats for the tenure of your Ticket Membership • Honorary Owner wall dedication with your name in Lynn Family Stadium and new Training Facility highlighting your financial commitment to the club during this time • Personalized Honorary Owner Scarf • 20% discount at the LouCity Team Store through October 2020 (exclusions apply)

Option B: I Will Support My Club in 2021: Request account credit for tickets and/or parkingAccount credit to be applied toward the purchase of 2021 LouCity AND/OR 2021 NWSL Season Tickets • Placed on waiting list behind those selecting option A to purchase or use account credit toward tickets for fan attended 2020 home matches

Option C: No Selection at this time: I will wait for details on rescheduled matches. Once the USL has rescheduled games and local and state officials have determined protocol of fans attending matches, a LouCity representative will contact me directly to discuss options • Options will include account credit or refund for unscheduled or cancelled matches, but your ability to choose Option A from above will not be available for selection after June 16, 2020

I personally feel like this is about as much as the club could offer season ticket holders this year. If you want your money back, you can get it. If you want the club to keep your money regardless of whether you’re willing or able to attend regular season matches, you can do that. If you want to do something in the middle because you don’t feel like going to games in 2020 is a good idea, you’ve got an option.

It’s not perfect, but frankly it’s the best (and, at this point, ONLY) plan I’ve seen league-wide so far.

Have a great, safe, and equal weekend, y’all. VAMOS MORADOS!
