WHO, AGAIN? This is our second “official” match against Memphis 901, the first being a 2-1 home win for Morados alllll the way back on April 30. Memphis was eliminated from the playoffs after losses to Charleston and Charlotte in the past week, so they don’t really have anything on the line in this match other than pride.

And I’m not too sure how much of that they have. They’ve lost eight of their 16 home matches. They’ve given up 50 goals on the season. They don’t keep possession particularly well. They’ve only scored 36 goals all year.

It’s probably been a pretty disappointing season for 901 given some of the talent on their roster. Brandon Allen, Adam Najem, Elliott Collier, and Pierre Da Silva are all players that have caused LouCity and other teams problems in the past. It looks like they just didn’t gel particularly well this season.

In truth, it doesn’t really matter who the opponent is, because if LouCity wants to have any chance of finishing above 6th place, they need to win this game. New York did us a favor on Wednesday and lost to Birmingham Legion despite being a man up for a good chunk of the match. They’re traveling to sudden wrecking ball Loudoun on Saturday. Tampa’s going to Hartford, which doesn’t sound all that scary, but maybe there’ll be another bomb cyclone or something and Athletic nips a point. That’d be nice!

City seems to have just about their entire roster available (minus the suspended Paco Craig) for the first time nearly all season. Perfect timing! After that eight-goal outburst last week, maybe the purple machine is finally primed and humming to buzzsaw through whatever defense it faces now. I’m excited to find out.

VAMOS MORADOS.
